Uploading a PowerPoint file (PPT or PPTX) to a ScreenCloud Media may sometimes fail due to browser or file compatibility, network restrictions, or specific file configurations. Below are detailed steps to diagnose and resolve such issues.
General troubleshooting checklist
Before addressing specific PowerPoint-related concerns, complete these general steps in order:
Check ScreenCloud status page (status.screencloud.com) for upload issues: If there is an outage with file uploads to ScreenCloud, please subscribe to the status page so you are informed when the issue is resolved.
Clear your browser cache: Clear the cache in your internet browser to eliminate temporary data that may interfere with uploads.
Restart your computer: A fresh start can resolve technical imperfections.
Use compatible browsers: ScreenCloud works best with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Safari and Edge are not fully optimized for use with the platform.
Disable browser extensions: Extensions or add-ons in your browser can interfere with the upload process. Temporarily disable them and try again.
Check your network: If possible, attempt the upload from a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, to rule out local network restrictions.
Verify user permissions: If the "Upload Media" button is unavailable, you may need enhanced user access granted by your organization owner.
PowerPoint-Specific issues and resolutions
If you are still unable to upload your PowerPoint file, these additional steps address common PowerPoint-specific complications:
Ensure supported file types: Verify that your file is either in PPT or PPTX format. Check the ScreenCloud documentation for a complete list of supported file formats and any required conversion steps.
Manage embedded fonts: Files with embedded fonts may cause compatibility issues. When saving your PowerPoint, select the "Embed all characters" option to avoid upload failures.
Remove hidden slides: Remove any hidden or skipped slides, as they might create problems during uploads.
Optimize the file: Optimize your PowerPoint by reducing file size and complex formatting. Large camera images (for example, 4000×3000 px) can slow uploads, so resize images to a screen-friendly resolution like 1920×1080 px before uploading.
If issues persist, please contact ScreenCloud support and provide them with the PowerPoint document in question.
