How to Delete and Restore Files In Your Media Library

This article will go through how to more easily delete and clean up unused files and restore content in your Studio "Media Library"

Updated this week

If you accidentally deleted your content or wish to replace media that you might still need that you have erased in the last 30 days, this guide will help you fix this mistake.

We also recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox when navigating ScreenCloud's website, you can learn more about the best browsers to use with ScreenCloud here.

Only media files are currently able to be restored at this moment in time, but our team is working on also making it possible with Apps, Playlists, and Channels,

In addition, if your browser has pop-up blockers enabled, this may cause trouble with replacing the deleted content.

Deleting files

In your Media Library, you can hover over a file to see the option to delete it with the Move to Trash button, depicted with a red trash can.

Alternatively, you can view the file individually and select the same option.

One-click delete and deleting files in bulk

When you've selected to delete a file, you are usually greeted by a second prompt window asking if you are sure. If this window is slowing you down, you can use the Don't ask me again check box to remove this.

If you wish to bulk delete files, select the box on the upper right corner to enable multiple select. You can then click the red trash icon to move your selected content to Trash.

Restoring or permanently deleting files from Trash

When a file is deleted, it will be stored in the Trash. You can find the Trash storage on the left side of your ScreenCloud menu by clicking your user profile image.

Under Trash, you can choose to either restore or permanently delete files. This can be done individually or in bulk, where you can select Restore All or Empty Trash to completely replace or remove all files.

Deleted files are automatically set to remain for 30 in trash, and they are then completely erased from the account and can not be restored. However, you can adjust the 30 days to another number between 1 and 30.

Change the length of time items remain in Trash

In Trash > Media, Find the Edit button next to the Items in the trash are deleted permanently after 30 days text, adjust the number, and click Done to make the changes.

There will be a message next to each item in trash notifying you how many days they have left.
