1. Which apps support muting videos?
ScreenCloud has a selection of media apps that support video playback and the ability to mute videos being displayed on your digital screens. Some examples include YouTube, Vimeo, and more. Any app that has the "Mute videos" option in the app configuration panel can be switched on or off to remove audio from any videos that display.
2. How can I mute an app or video that doesn't have the "mute" option?
Our team is constantly working on improvements for apps and services in ScreenCloud as not every app has the mute option available. If you're using an app that does not have the mute option, there are a few options available for disabling audio:
i) Disable audio autoplay from the video source: Depending on the streaming source of your video you can control audio playback from the host website. For example, if you're the owner of a YouTube video you can control how the video runs on third-party websites when using your videos in the YouTube Studio Beta platform. This includes being able to switch off muting the video automatically when the URL to stream it is being used on other websites.
ii) Upload the video to social media and remove sound: Many social media apps have the functionality to automatically mute video content you're uploading. For example, when uploading a video to Instagram the smartphone app gives you the option to remove audio from the video. We recommend using this method to remove audio from your videos if it's available through the service directly.
iii) Upload an MP4 video without sound: Local MP4 videos uploaded into your Media Library currently don't have the option to be muted. Our team is working on this feature to be available in the future. In the meantime, we recommend stripping any audio tracks or sound from the MP4 video before uploading it into ScreenCloud.
