Full-screen switching allows selected content in a multi-zone layout to temporarily display in full screen before returning to the scheduled layout.
Requirements
This feature only works with multi-zone channel layouts
Full-screen switching is only supported in the first zone of the layout (this can be changed)
How to enable full-screen switching
Open a Channel in your ScreenCloud account
Select a piece of content within the channel (Channel with more than one zone required)
Click the full-screen switching icon (as shown below)
The content will be marked with a blue “Full Screen” label
You can enable this feature on multiple pieces of content within the same channel.
How full-screen switching works
Content marked as Full Screen will temporarily override the multi-zone layout
It will display in full screen across your display
Once finished, the multi-zone layout resumes automatically
To preview to check results before applying settings:
Click Preview on your channel
Full-screen content will play as configured
Click Publish to allow the Full Screen Switching to apply to Screens running the channel.
If full-screen switching is not working as expected
If a video or other content continues playing in the background while another item switches to full screen, it means the two items are in different zones. As a result, the full-screen content appears on top, while the video content continues playing underneath.
To resolve this, both the video and the full-screen content must be placed in the same zone, so that they never display at the same time.
This can result from the fact that full-screen switching can only be applied to Zone 1, so you will need to adjust your layout to ensure the zone showing the video is also set up as Zone 1 to enable full-screen switching.
How to change which zone allows full-screen switching
Go to Edit Layout
Select the layout you want to update
In the Config and CSS settings, reorder or renumber your zones so the desired zone (requires full-screen switching) is set as Zone 1
Save your updated layout and apply it to your channel
Once applied, the Full Screen option will be available for content in Zone 1.

Example: The middle zone is configured as Zone 1, so you can apply Full Screen Switching to any content within that zone.
While this may make the zone numbering appear out of order, it ensures full-screen switching works where it’s needed if the Middle zone is showing video content.
