2. How to add a custom theme to your ScreenCloud account

2.1. How to access the theme editing tool

2.1.1. You can find the theme editing tool in two different ways:

2.1.2. One method is by visiting the Account Settings from the lower left-hand navigation of your ScreenCloud account.

2.1.3. Then, you select Look & Feel (Theme) and click Create New Theme to begin creating a completely new theme.

2.1.4. You can also begin to create a new theme from within a channel:

2.1.5. As you view a channel, click Settings, and toggle on Apply Theme. This will automatically apply an existing theme, as well as a Switch Theme button.

2.1.6. Clicking Switch Theme will allow you to either edit an available theme or Create New Theme.

2.1.7. To edit an existing theme, click the ellipses button and then click Edit Theme.

2.1.8. Finally, you will arrive at the Theme editing tool (after Edit theme or Create new theme). Below is a walkthrough of all the features you can go through to brand and customize your theme. First, we recommend clicking on the upper left-hand title (New theme) to customize and add any name you'd like for the theme. The example below has been edited to be named My Theme.

2.2. Upload and crop your brand or logo image

2.2.1. If you'd like to upload a logo, select Upload Logo to prompt the media uploader. Select an image from your computer or a third-party service to load into the theme editor. Please refer to our supported file type information if needed. You can upload a PNG file with a transparent background.

2.2.2. Using the media tool gives you a few editing options before uploading your logo. Please note, the recommended width for your logo is 600px or more.

i) Crop an image: Click the Crop action to begin cropping your image file to a rectangle or square shape. A square shape is recommended.

ii) Circle crop an image: You can click the Circle cropping action to crop the image into a circle shape instead.

iii) Rotate the image: The Rotate action provides you with arrow tools from left to right to change the orientation of the image.

2.2.3. Once you are done cropping or rotating your logo image, click Save.

2.2.4. You can then click Upload and the image will be used as your theme logo.

2.2.5. Please note that you won’t see a sample of the logo in use until you have applied the theme to a screen. For example, the theme logo will replace the logo of the news source (BBC, CNN, etc.) for the News app.

2.2.6. To remove the logo file and replace it with another one, you can click the Remove Logo and then Upload Logo button.

2.3. Set your theme colors

2.3.1. With your logo now ready, you can select the colors to represent your brand, team, or any pallets you'd like to choose.

2.3.2. You can choose between primary and secondary colors for your theme by clicking on the color dropper tool or by entering a color hex code. You can use a website such as htmlcolorcodes.com for color hex codes. You can also use brandfetch.com to identify your organization’s brand colors if it is available in the service.

2.3.3. There is also an option to allow the system to select the font colors for you, according to the primary colors you’ve set.

2.4. Select your theme fonts

2.4.1. You can finish your theme setup by selecting font-type styles you'd like to set up for both the heading and body text for apps.

2.4.2. If you need to apply a different font for your organization, please see the How to add custom fonts to your ScreenCloud account guide. Please note that custom fonts is part of the Pro and Enterprise plan, and this feature is not available for subscriptions on the Core plan.

2.4.3. Once you're finished applying your theme logo, colors, and fonts, click the Save button in the upper-right-hand corner.

2.4.4. The theme will now appear in the Look & Feel or Themes (https://studio.screencloud.com/themes) section of your account. Clicking on a theme will allow you to edit it.

2.4.5. You can also edit them when viewing a channel and clicking Settings > Apply Theme > Switch Theme.

2.4.6. Please note to click Save each time you make changes to your theme.

3. Theme settings and assigning to channels

3.1. Theme settings

3.1.1. Next, you can work with a few options to brand and use your themes.

3.1.2. Set as default: Activating this setting will automatically apply this channel by default to any new channel you create moving forward. Please note, when this is activated you'll have to manually change the type of theme a new channel uses by visiting Settings while using the channel builder. You can learn more about how to set up themes with channels by visiting here.

3.1.3. Make splash: This feature displays or showcases the photo/logo you've uploaded when the ScreenCloud app player is launching on your device. For example, if you're launching the ScreenCloud Signage Player to start playing on a ScreenCloud OS device or Amazon Signage Stick, instead of showing the ScreenCloud logo, it will start up with your image. Please note the hardware's built-in launch screen will show first, however.

3.1.4. You can set Splash as a Default display under the Account Settings > Organization settings.

3.1.5. Delete: You can select to delete any channel from the Look & Feel (Theme) settings. Please note, that if the channel is set as Default or Splash, it must first be removed as the default and splash theme. The system won't allow you to delete it until both settings are removed from it.

When Delete theme is available, confirm you'd like to permanently delete the theme by clicking Delete when prompted.

3.1.6. Your channels will brand custom apps with the theme automatically unless it's switched off and a new theme is manually set up. This can be adjusted by selecting Settings while editing a channel. We'll get into this below.

3.2. Apply the theme to a channel

3.2.1. Visit your Channels and select the channel you'd like to set up with your new theme.

3.2.2. Click Settings in the right-hand side in the Edit channel menu and you'll be able to select a theme by clicking the Apply theme switch to then access the Switch theme button.

3.2.3. Select your new theme and click Done.

3.2.4. Click Preview to see the theme take effect on the channel. Make sure to also click Publish to ensure the changes are saved and take effect on your screens.

Please note, that if you've set up your theme as the default, then it'll be set to a channel automatically each time a new channel is created. See the steps above on setting a theme to default in the look & feel (themes) section of your account.

If you have a channel with a theme applied that you wish to set to each new screen that is paired to your account, check out the steps from this guide.

With your themes now applied, maintaining a consistent visual identity across multiple screens becomes simpler, and updates can be easily applied across your entire signage network. Whether you’re showcasing company announcements, promotional content, or informational displays, your custom theme will ensure that each screen aligns with your brand’s visual standards, making your messages more impactful and memorable.

For ongoing adjustments and enhancements, revisit the theme settings to fine-tune your design as your brand evolves.
