Using Embeddable Channels With ScreenCloud

Learn how to use and share Embeddable Channels with ScreenCloud, allowing you to share Channels outside of Studio and screens.

Updated over a month ago

Introduction

Channels function similarly to a TV channel, giving you the ability to group and organize content in a meaningful way, by theme, usage, department, topic, or any other way you'd like. You can also use channels to give every team a voice, for instance, if you have multiple offices you can provide a corporate playlist that each office can add to their own channel, giving them the power to mix content from headquarters with departments or location-specific messaging.

Using Embeddable Channels you can give employees everywhere the ability to gain access to the same content in your organization’s Channels, but in a browser, website, or embedded in your intranet or other employee communication channel. This is useful for companies with employees working remotely, based at home, or as a way to keep your teams connected from anywhere in the world. You can also use this feature to share and embed your playlists.

Please note, that Channels is only currently available as a feature for our customers using the newer Studio version of ScreenCloud (signing up after December 2019). Please reach out to [email protected] if you are interested in migrating your account at this time.

4.6. How can I turn off or disable an embeddable channel?

You can disable or turn off a channel from being shared by clicking on the "Shared" option while hovering over your channel. 4.7. I've noticed some videos are not playing or working with sound, how do I fix this?

In these cases, commonly this could be due to trying to use an embeddable channel URL or iFrame while viewing the player from a Google Chrome web browser. Google has an autoplay policy that restricts video and audio playback while browsing websites while using Chrome, requiring a user-press or gesture to enable the video and/or audio to activate. You can learn more by clicking here.

For example, while using ScreenCloud's YouTube App, you might notice that the videos will not play automatically. If you switch the videos to Mute while setting up the YouTube app in ScreenCloud, this will enable the autoplay policy while using a Google Chrome device or browser to play the video automatically.

4.8. How can I set up my embeddable player to autoplay on other websites or services?

You can allow your embeddable channels or playlists to autoplay once loaded. This will allow the link to begin auto-playing in other sites, without requiring users to manually select the play button or need to interact with the player. To do this, you can add the following string to the end of your shared embeddable player URL:

?type=channel&autoplay=1

Screen Shot 2022-11-22 at 15.23.46.png

4.9. How do I enable ScreenCloud Touch for an embedded channel?

ScreenCloud Touch allows users to interact and click content within the embeddable channel. To enable this,
please add the below text in front of the embed link.

If you want users to be able to interact with the embedded channel:

?menuenabled=1

If you want the embedded channel to autoplay and also be interactive:

?autoplay=1&menuenabled=1

4.10. Can I use an embeddable channel as a screensaver on my computer or laptop?

You can use an embeddable channel as a screensaver for macOS devices by clicking here for the ScreenCloud embeddable channel macOS screensaver guide.

4.11. Why is there a 'Are you still watching?' message and 'Continue playing' button appearing on my embeddable channel?

This warning message will appear after the content has been playing uninterrupted for about 1 hour, if you have the embed link set up to autoplay. However, if you remove the autoplay function for the embed link, the content will run for a longer time before this message pops up. The purpose of this warning message is to deter a user from setting up the embeddable channel as a screen license.
