3. What is Open Pluggable Specification (OPS)

Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) is a computing module that is transforming the digital signage world. The Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) was created to help standardize the design of media players used for digital signage to enable interchangeability of different OPS modules. When Intel created the OPS, the goal was to simplify the installation and upgrading of software in digital signage displays and in higher volumes. Installing digital signage equipment that incorporates OPS not only creates scalable application but also allows customers to push changes across all displays.

The main benefit of using OPS in digital signage is to reduce downtime and maintenance costs by easily swapping out defective PC modules. In most cases, the screen doesn't even have to be removed from its mount to replace the OPS module.

OPS solves the problem of having to constantly purchase new displays when new technology is released. Having this standardized slot in your professional display allows you to upgrade the power of your display at any time and helps you keep up to date with the latest technology, thus future-proofing technology investments. No need to go out and purchase a whole new display just simply purchase an OPS module with the latest software and plug it in!

This solution makes it possible to integrate digital signage media players into commercial displays seamlessly, effectively turning your display into an All-in-One PC solution.
