How to stream Microsoft Teams with ScreenCloud Broadcast

How to connect Microsoft Teams with ScreenCloud's live-streaming app Broadcast so that you can stream your team meetings.

This help article provides step-by-step instructions for configuring Microsoft Teams meetings with ScreenCloud Broadcast so they can be streamed directly to your connected screens. Create your streaming URL and streaming key in Broadcast

To begin, first follow the steps from How to use and manage ScreenCloud Broadcast of the ScreenCloud Broadcast: Setting Up Live Streams On Your Digital Screens guide to learn how to create your Broadcast app instance and Streaming Channel.

From this, you will have your Streaming URL and Streaming key ready for the broadcast connection steps for Microsoft Teams below.

Set your custom streaming app settings in Microsoft Teams admin

Please note that, to use Microsoft Team's Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) stream ability, you must:

  • Have the LiveStreamingMode policy turned on for your account

  • Be the meeting organizer

  • Have access to a streaming app, such as the Custom Streaming meeting app

  1. Head to your accounts Microsoft Teams admin center page. For more information on Microsoft's RTMP capabilities, please see here.

  2. Under Meetings > Meeting Policies, turn on Live streaming and Local broadcasting

  3. ​Under Teams apps > Permission Policies, set Third-Party apps to Allow all apps.

  4. For an alternative solution to the step above, go to Teams apps > Manage apps and set Custom Streaming (Preview) to Allowed.

Set up your live stream with the Microsoft Teams application

For this step, please note that you will need first need the Microsoft Teams software or application on your desktop or device.

  1. Get started by logging into the Microsoft Teams application on your device or desktop.

  2. When in a Teams meeting select Apps and search for the Custom Streaming app.


  3. Select the app and save it to the meeting.

  4. Select the app that is now added to your Teams meeting, where you will find Stream URL and Stream key text field

  5. Head back to your Broadcast app in ScreenCloud and copy the Stream URL and Streaming key from your Broadcast app.

    Note: A new streaming key will be needed after your broadcast ends, as each key lasts up to 3 hours. A new key will auto-generate in the Broadcast app.

  6. Head back to your Microsoft Teams app, set in the links, and click Start streaming

  7. Click Allow when the 'Confirm streaming meeting content?' question appears

  8. Your Microsoft Teams meeting should now be playing in the preview mode or the Live Streaming Page URL of your Broadcast app!
