How to Lock the Settings Panel on iOS Devices

Hello and thank you for visiting our ScreenCloud Help Center. This article will go through how to lock the settings panel on iOS devices.

Updated over a month ago

When using an iOS device like an iPad in a public place, you'll probably want to avoid curious viewers from touching the screen and changing settings. Firstly, you'll want to enable Guided Access Mode, which you can read about here, which locks the device to only using one app and blocks anyone from getting back to the home screen or changing apps. Secondly, you will also want to lock the settings panel in the ScreenCloud app.

Turning on Guided Access Mode only locks the device to using the ScreenCloud app, but still allows you to perform actions in the ScreenCloud app like opening the settings panel, which is not exactly somewhere you want a curious viewer playing around. Perform the following steps in the lock settings panel:

1. Open the ScreenCloud app and pull in from the right side of the screen to open the settings side panel.

2. Under System, enable Lock Settings Panel. This feature uses the Touch ID or passcode on your iOS device to allow only you to access the settings panel.

Please note, if you get the message Unable to lock settings panel, Touch ID / Passcode is not configured, you'll have to go to the Settings app on your iOS device and under Passcode choose Turn Passcode On and set up a passcode.
