How to use SaveLog to Capture System Log Files From Your ScreenCloud OS Device

System logs help troubleshoot device issues. This guide explains how to collect data from ScreenCloud OS devices using the SaveLog tool.

Updated over a month ago

1. Prepare your USB flash drive with the SaveLog tool file

In order to your capture system log files onto a USB flash drive, you must have an empty, FAT formatted USB flash drive (see here). Once you have that prepared, copy the file below onto your USB flash drive

Download the file “savelog.pls” here

2. Capture system log files using the SaveLog tool

2.1. Insert the USB flash drive you prepared into your ScreenCloud OS device and wait for the LED light on your device to turn from blue, to red, and then to blue again. Once that has finished, you can remove the USB flash drive from your ScreenCloud OS device.

2.2. Insert the USB flash drive into your computer and you will see that a new folder has been created titled with your device’s Device ID. Inside that folder, you will see the log file.

You can use the same USB flash drive you prepared as many times as you want. Each time you follow the process above to capture system log files from your ScreenCloud OS device the SaveLog tool will capture an additional log file, and if you use it on an additional ScreenCloud OS device it will create a new folder for that ScreenCloud OS device.
