Continue below to see the different methods of manually updating your ScreenCloud OS device's OS. To update from a previous version, you can use the USB or SD Card updater method. To completely wipe the device, perform the SD flasher process.

How to use the USB Updater to Manually Update your ScreenCloud OS device
Prepare your USB flash drive with the update files
Download the following 2 files.
Download the scota.img file
Download the scota.info file
Make sure you have an empty FAT formatted USB flash drive prepared (see here) and then copy the 2 files above to your USB flash drive (your USB flash drive’s contents should look like the image below when you are done).

Install the update
Before you start, make sure you have the ScreenCloud OS device that you would like to update, a keyboard, a display and the USB flash drive with the update files.
Connect your ScreenCloud OS device to both the keyboard and display, insert your USB flash drive with the update files, and then power on your ScreenCloud OS device by connecting the power supply.
Once you see the ScreenCloud OS logo on screen, showing that ScreenCloud OS has started, select Ctrl + Alt + R (we recommend selecting this multiple times to ensure it registers) to enter Recovery Mode. Your ScreenCloud OS device will load ScreenCloud OS completely and then restart and load into Recovery Mode.
In Recovery Mode, use your keyboard to go to “Install Update” and select it by selecting Enter.
If you added the files correctly to your USB flash drive, you will then see the following message. Select “Yes” by selecting Enter to continue. Please note that the image version number may differ in your case.
You will see the following messages as the update processes. The numbers may differ in your case.
Once the update process finishes you will be taken back to Recovery Mode. Restart your device by unplugging the power supply and connecting it again.
As your ScreenCloud OS device reboots, you will see the ScreenCloud OS version number. If it shows the latest version number you will know that you have successfully updated to the correct version of ScreenCloud OS.
How to use the SD Updater to Manually Update your ScreenCloud OS device
Prepare your micro SD Card with the update files
Download the firep1-2.1.18-SDUPDATER-RELEASE.img file.
Make sure you have a Micro SD Card ready to use and then use a tool like Etcher to flash the IMG file to your Micro SD Card.
Install the update
Before you start, make sure you have the ScreenCloud OS device that you would like to update (with an older version of ScreenCloud OS), a display and the Micro SD Card you prepared.
Connect your ScreenCloud OS device to the display, and make sure the Micro SD Card is inserted into the Micro SD Card slot, and then power on your ScreenCloud OS device by connecting the power supply.
Your device will start up and start the SD Updater. Once the update process is finished, you will see a notice to remove the Micro SD Card. After removing the Micro SD Card, restart your device by unplugging the power supply and plugging it back in again.
Once you restart, your device will start up and load to the “Get Started” screen, and you will be able to set up your device using the steps noted here.
How to use the SD Flasher to Manually Update your ScreenCloud OS device
Prepare your micro SD card with the update file
Download the firep1-2.1.18-SDFLASHER-RELEASE.img file.
Make sure you have a micro SD card ready to use and then use a tool like Etcher to flash the IMG file to your micro SD card.
Install the update
Before you start, make sure you have the ScreenCloud OS device that you would like to update, a display, and the micro SD card you prepared.
Connect your ScreenCloud OS device to the display, make sure the micro SD card is inserted into the micro SD card slot, and then power on your ScreenCloud OS device by connecting the power supply.
Your device will start up and start the SD Flasher. Once the update process is finished, you will see a notice to remove the micro SD card. After removing the micro SD card, restart your device by unplugging the power supply and plugging it back in again. In some cases, you will not see any content on your display. If this is the case, wait for a few minutes until the device's LED displays purple, at which time you'll know that the SD Flasher's update process is finished and you can remove the micro SD card and restart your device by unplugging the power supply and plugging it back in again.
Once you restart, your device will start up and load to the “Get Started” screen, and you will be able to set up your device using the steps noted here.
