How to Set up ScreenCloud on Your Ugoos Digital Signage Media Player

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to set up ScreenCloud’s digital signage software using Ugoos devices.

Updated over a month ago

Since the release of Remote Device Management for ScreenCloud OS, this Android device is not a recommended solution for usage with ScreenCloud. We would strongly advise turning to a ScreenCloud OS device for the best digital signage solution. You can purchase a device in our store here.

1. Introduction

If you are looking for a slightly stronger media player that has additional business features we suggest purchasing the Ugoos AM6B Plus or the X4 Cube. We recommend the Ugoos AM6B Plus or X4 Cube for new purchases as they have the price of an entry-level device but the performance quality of a high-end digital signage device.

The Ugoos AM6B Plus is equipped with an Amlogic S922X SoC, 2G of DDR4 RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. This box runs on the Android 9.0 operating system and also has the latest High-Efficiency Video Coding, most commonly known as HEVC or H.265. This next-level video processor allows for 4K videos to be easily compressed and streamed to your display without compromising any picture quality.

And it looks great! The AM6B Plus is enclosed in an aluminum chassis, this not only gives the box a sleek and professional look but its build protects it, dissipates heat, and provides stable processing for any kind of task.

The Ugoos X4 Cube is a slightly smaller media player running an Amlogic S905X4 chipset and is equipped with an Android 11 operating system. This is one of the highest performing Android-powered boxes we have tested in our lab, which is great considering it is small and compact.

2. Purchase Options

3. How to Set up the Ugoos AM6B Plus and X4 Cube and Set Optimum Settings

After unboxing your Ugoos AM6B Plus and X4 Cube, turn on the device and connect it to a display using the included HDMI cable. To achieve optimum performance, we suggest connecting the provided WIFI antennas to strengthen the WIFI connection.

3.1. Set a Default Launcher App

3.1.1. The Ugoos devices come with two separate launcher apps. When you power on your device, you will be asked which launcher app you would like to use.

We recommend using the “Launcher3” instead of “UgoosLauncher”. The “Launcher3” provides an experience similar to an Android tablet, while the “UgoosLauncher” provides an experience similar to an Android TV device.

Select the option you prefer and then select “Always” to ensure that the launcher app is always launched at startup.

3.2. Set Optimum Settings

To set up your configurations, use the provided remote or external mouse to select your settings.

3.2.1. To start setting your configurations, find the "settings" button. This will open up a sidebar to the right of your screen where you can set up your device.

5. How to Set up the AirDroid Business Remote Device Management Service on the Ugoos devices

One of the advantages of using an Android-powered business device like the Ugoos AM6B Plus or X4 Cube is the ability to install and use remote device management services and apps.

If you would like to use a remote device management service with either of the Ugoos devices we recommend AirDroid Business, which we have thoroughly tested with this device and the ScreenCloud app. AirDroid Business makes it possible to remotely view or control your device, which gives you control in the scenario that something goes wrong. You can also get additional features via their Kiosk Mode and Application Management add-ons.

To learn more about using AirDroid Business to remotely manage your Ugoos device, you can read our detailed guide here.
