Amazon Device: “Amazon Appstore: Unknown Error” Message and How to Fix This

This article will go through what steps you can take to resolve an "Unknown Error" message appearing on your Amazon device

Updated over a month ago

If you see the error message “Amazon Appstore: Unknown Error”, "Unknown error", "Unknown Error Has Occurred" and/or "Unable to connect to app store" on your Amazon Fire TV stick or device, this means that there is an error with the Amazon Appstore app on your device.

To resolve the issue, please follow the steps provided by Amazon support:

An Amazon Appstore App Has Errors or Is Unresponsive
An Amazon Appstore app is freezing, not opening, or displaying an error or exception number message.

You can solve many errors by:

  • Updating to the latest version of the app,

  • Force-stopping the app, or

  • Clearing the app cache.

We also believe this issue could be that the country settings on your Amazon account are not the same as your geographic location or where the device is being used. You might have to also update the location and payment method on your Amazon account.

Unfortunately, we are unable to control this type of error from happening as Amazon devices are not manufactured through ScreenCloud. If you want to speak to Amazon support, here is a link to get in direct contact with a member of their team: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/contact-us

If this does not work best for you, we recommend ScreenCloud OS as an alternative device, but if you wish to continue using an Amazon device, please find the models that we recommend at https://screencloud.com/hardware.
