What Types of Login Authentication Does ScreenCloud Dashboards Support?

This article will run through the login authentication methods that are compatible with ScreenCloud Dashboards.

Updated over a month ago

ScreenCloud Dashboards is a robust tool that enables you to showcase key metrics, reports, and web content on digital screens, offering your team real-time data visibility. Your login method can be as simple as a username and password, or you can enhance your security using two-factor authentication (2FA) with a one-time passcode (OTP). However, it's important to note that not all authentication methods are supported. Read on to learn how to ensure that your Dashboard site's login methods are compatible with the ScreenCloud Dashboard app.

Supported authentication methods for Dashboards

Unsupported authentication methods for Dashboards

  • Bot verification steps

  • CAPTCHA

  • Device authentication (e.g., clicking "Yes" or "No" on another logged-in device)

  • Email authentication (e.g., receiving an email to confirm your login)

  • HTTP authentication (e.g., entering credentials in a web browser pop-up)

  • SMS authentication (e.g., OTP sent via SMS)

How can I setup my login authentication so that it is supported by ScreenCloud Dashboards?

If your Dashboard site has a login setup with an unsupported method, i.e. CAPTCHA or Bot verification, please connect with your IT team, or the site admin, to find out if they can perhaps disable it. Please set up 2FA OTP for that email if you choose to do this.

If the login process requests additional confirmation by email, SMS, or another device (for example your phone), you should not be using this email to log into and set up your Dashboards.

The best way to enable your logins for our Dashboards service is to have your team prepare a new user and login to be used specifically with ScreenCloud Dashboards that do not use unsupported authentication methods. This can be a general email that all ScreenCloud users who manage Dashboards can have access to. For security purposes, it is strongly recommended to set up this email's access with OTP 2FA.

However, if your site requires HTTP authentication, this is not compatible. Please see Does Dashboards support HTTP authentication? to learn why.
