Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) And Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Login Support for Dashboards

This guide provides information on two authenticator services, Google and Microsoft, which you can use for your secure Dashboards setup

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an electronic authentication method in which a user is granted access to a website or application only after successfully presenting two or more pieces of evidence to an authentication mechanism. Two-factor authentication (2FA) requires users to present two types of authentication, while MFA requires users to present at least two if not more types of authentication. All 2FA is an MFA, but not all MFA is a 2FA.

Supported Two Factor Authentication Providers for ScreenCloud Dashboards

ScreenCloud's Dashboards currently support a few 2FA logins, but we are continuously working to add support for more 2FA providers. If you wish to use our Dashboards feature and your organization requires a 2FA login to access that Dashboard, please contact us (see contact information below) with the Dashboard tool and the 2FA provider you wish to use.

Please see below the supported 2FA setups with Dashboards, where the links provided lead to our setup guides for each of the services.

Resolving MFA Issues with ScreenCloud Dashboards

Authentication methods that require repeated user interaction, such as email based verification codes, SMS codes, CAPTCHA challenges, bot checks, device approval prompts, or HTTP authentication, are not supported, as this data cannot be automated or accessed by the service. Only MFA methods that use OTP login with a secret key are compatible.

If your dashboard uses an unsupported MFA method, you can resolve this by updating the authentication settings to remove interactive verification steps or by creating a dedicated user account specifically for ScreenCloud Dashboards. This account should be configured with a supported (see above), non interactive authentication method so it can log in reliably without repeated approval prompts. Using a separate profile also helps isolate permissions and maintain security controls within your organization.

If modifying authentication settings to be compatible with Dashboards is not possible due to company policies, you may consider using a third-party dashboard services that integrates with it's own dedicated app and authenatication.

Don't see ScreenCloud Dashboards in your account? This feature can be added to your account with an upgrade to the Pro or Enterprise plan. Please reach out to ScreenCloud support or your account manager to get help with this.
