Resetting your ScreenCloud OS device can address functional issues, update software, or prepare it for a new purpose. A factory reset restores your device to its default settings, which is useful for resolving operational errors or setting it up for a new user.

1. To begin factory resetting your ScreenCloud OS device, first make sure you have a keyboard, and connect it to any of the USB ports at the front of the device. The keyboard will need to be connected at all times during this reset process. Please be advised that MacBook keyboards are not supported and will not work with the Screencloud OS device. If your keyboard commands fail during the reset process, please try again and hit the reset command multiple times instead of once

Alternatively, you can use a Micro SD card as an alternative method for manual reset or update. Make sure that only Micro SD cards are used, as SSDs are not supported for this purpose.

2. Next, power off and on your device. As your ScreenCloud OS device displays the reboot screen seen below, select "Ctrl+Alt+R" on your keyboard (you may want to select this more than once to make sure it registers).

After following the steps above, your ScreenCloud OS device will turn off and reboot into recovery mode. At this time your display may show a lost signal message.

To manage licenses effectively, use the "Replace Device" feature in your ScreenCloud account to seamlessly swap out the reset device with the new pairing code, so that you don't cause a license increase in your subscription. Alternatively, delete the existing device entry from your account before proceeding with the factory reset.

3. Once you are in recovery mode, use your keyboard to navigate to the first option "Clear User Data" and then select "OK" by pressing enter on your keyboard.

You will be asked, are sure you want to clear the user data, select "Yes" by pressing enter on your keyboard. Your ScreenCloud OS device will automatically start clearing the user data.

5. From here navigate to the "Reboot" and select select "OK" by pressing enter on your keyboard to exit recovery mode and reboot your device.

6. You can now begin the re-provisioning of your ScreenCloud OS device by using either the On Screen UI menu, USB provisioning flash drive or an Ethernet (LAN) cable with DHCP enabled. Before re-provisioning, ensure that your have a free screen license ready for pairing, or use "Replace device" if you still see the screen pairing as Offline in your account.
