Watch the video above or follow the steps below to learn how to factory reset a ScreenCloud OS Station P1 or Station P1 Pro device.
Before you begin
You will need a USB keyboard connected to one of the USB ports on the front of the device. Keep it connected throughout the entire reset process. Note that Mac keyboards are not supported. Use a standard USB keyboard.
To manage your screen license, we recommend using the Replace Device feature in your ScreenCloud account before resetting. This lets you swap the reset device with the new pairing code without increasing your license count. Alternatively, delete the existing screen entry from your account before proceeding.
Steps to factory reset
1. Power off your ScreenCloud OS device
Unplug the power supply to fully power off the device. Avoid using the power button alone, as unplugging is the more reliable method, particularly for P1 and P1 Pro models.
2. Boot into Recovery Mode
Plug the power supply back in. As the device displays the reboot screen, press Ctrl + Alt + R repeatedly on your keyboard until the Recovery Mode screen appears. If it doesn't appear on the first attempt, keep pressing the key combination. It may take several tries.
Your display may show a "no signal" message during this process. This is normal.
3. Clear User Data
Using your keyboard, navigate to Clear User Data and press Enter to select OK.
When prompted to confirm, select Yes and press Enter. The device will begin clearing user data automatically.
If you are resetting to resolve a network configuration issue (such as a static IP reverting to DHCP), select Clear User Data and Environment instead for a more thorough reset.
4. Reboot the device
Once the process is complete, you will be returned to the main Recovery screen. Navigate to Reboot and press Enter to exit Recovery Mode and restart your device.
5. Re-provision your device
You can now set up your ScreenCloud OS device again using one of the following methods:
On-screen UI menu
USB provisioning flash drive
Ethernet (LAN) cable with DHCP enabled
For full setup instructions, see How to Set Up Your ScreenCloud OS Device.
Before re-provisioning, make sure you have a free screen license available for pairing. If you are re-pairing a screen that was already set up on your account, use the Replace Device option instead. This reapplies your existing screen settings without adding a new license to your subscription.
Alternative reset method: Micro SD card
If the keyboard method isn't working, you can perform a manual reset using a Micro SD card. Learn how to do this here.
This method is particularly useful when the keyboard method fails or if you encounter issues accessing the recovery menu.
If the factory reset isn't working
If you're unable to enter Recovery Mode using Ctrl + Alt + R, and the Micro SD card method also fails, work through the following steps.
Collect Savelogs for diagnostics
Savelogs captures system log files from your device and helps the support team diagnose hardware or software issues.
Prepare a USB flash drive with the Savelog tool by following the instructions linked.
Power off the ScreenCloud OS device.
Connect the USB flash drive to the device and power it on.
Once powered on, check the USB drive on your computer. If log files appear in a folder named by the Device ID, send them to the ScreenCloud Support team along with your Device ID and ScreenCloud account name.
If no log files are created
If the Savelog tool produces no files, please record video proof of each failed step and have your device's purchase invoice number ready. The support team may be able to arrange a free replacement if the device is under warranty and contains faulty components. Contact support here.
