HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) is a feature of HDMI that allows devices connected via HDMI to communicate with each other. For ScreenCloud, this can allow a device to turn a display off and on, as well as lock the device so that the display always reverts to the HDMI connected to the ScreenCloud device if the display channel is changed.
Does ScreenCloud support HDMI-CEC?
Yes, this is possible with ScreenCloud OS devices running OS version 3 or higher, as well as with Amazon Signage Stick devices. The HDMI-CEC control settings can be found in the screen’s RDM tools and settings window by clicking Open in RDM or selecting the device icon. These controls are only available when the device is connected to an HDMI-CEC–enabled port on the display.
With the HDMI CEC Display Status setting, the connected device can turn the display on or off. The Lock HDMI Input Source option makes the display (if set to Locked) revert back to the ScreenCloud device which is connected to the HDMI-CEC input if the display HDMI channel is changed.
You can test the HDMI-CEC function with a ScreenCloud OS device by setting it to Canary mode - Learn how to do this here!
