Google has announced that it will end support for Chrome Apps for ChromeOS. You can find more details from Google at End of support for Chrome apps. As a result, the ScreenCloud ChromeOS Player must now run as an Isolated Web App (IWA). This guide will walk you through migrating from the ScreenCloud ChromeOS player legacy Chrome App version to the new IWA version to ensure your digital signage continues running smoothly.
It is recommended to migrate the ScreenCloud ChromeOS player from Chrome App to a IWA before July 2026.
Step 1: Install the IWA ScreenCloud ChromeOS Player
In Google Workspace Admin
Select your Organization Unit
At the below right corner, hit the + button, then hit the box icon Add an Isolated Web App
Fill in the Web Bundle ID and Update Manifest URL values from below then hit SAVE

Update Manifest URL:https://chrome-iwa.screencloud.com
Click your installed app to toggle more settings, make sure Web app can run offline is enabled.
Then scroll down to Extensions section then hit Add Extension > Add from a custom URL
Fill in Extension ID and URL from below.

Set Auto-launch app to the name of the installed player (
https://chrome-iwa.screencloud.comin the image sample below), then hit Save again at the top right corner.
Step 2: Reboot ChromeOS devices
Go to ChromeOS > Device
Select the Organizational Unit (OU) that contains the ChromeOS devices running the Legacy Chrome Player.
Select all devices, then choose the Reboot option from the dropdown menu.
The selected devices will reboot and automatically launch the new ScreenCloud ChromeOS Player (IWA) version. The same content that was playing on the legacy version should now be playing on the new player version.
If the devices still boots into the old Chrome web app player for the Auto-launch app, please wait for a few minutes and try again.
Step 3: Remove the Chrome app version after installing the IWA Player
Remove the Legacy Chrome Player only after you confirm the new IWA player is set as the Auto-launch app for the kiosk settings of your ChromeOS device(s), as seen in the image below.
Once this is confirmed, follow the steps below to remove the old player version:
Go to Menu > Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions > Kiosks.
In the Kiosks app panel, select the Legacy Chrome Player with the app ID
efdahhfldoeikfglgolhibmdidbnpneo.
Select the trash icon, and confirm removing the app
If you see the below "Device Already Associated" result after launching the new IWA ScreenCloud ChromeOS player, please contact the support team.
