Screen Notifications is a feature that provides instant email alerts when screens go offline and when they come back online. Users can stay informed about their screens’ status without manually checking and monitor their status with ease, improving uptime and reliability. The feature helps users by sending notifications directly to their inbox, so they don’t miss any critical updates. Users can also specify a notification threshold value so notifications are only sent when the screen has been offline for a certain amount of time.
This feature only comes available with the Pro or Enterprise plan. To find out about upgrading so that you can use this feature, please see our ScreenCloud pricing page here.
Where to find the Screen Notifications option
The Screen Notifications feature is represented with a bell icon, which you can find in two locations:
i) With each screen as you view your list of screens in Screens
ii) At the top-right corner next to the Refresh button as you view your screen in Studio.
iii) Or next to each screen in the Screens Manager
Please note: At this time it is not possible to bulk-select screens in Screens Manager and apply Screens Notification settings. Our team is currently working on improving this functionality, and we apologize for the inconvenience experienced.
How to set your email or other users to receive Screen Notifications
Clicking the crossed-out bell button will allow you to open the Notification Preferences settings.
The target for notifications will automatically be set to your email which is logged into Studio. You'll be able to see this under the Personal Notification option.
To enable your email to receive notifications, simply toggle the option on!
However, you can also select additional users in your account to receive email notifications by enabling General Notification. This allows you to select from any user in your account that already has access to the screen and the space it is in.
Customize how often screen offline and online notification emails are sent
You can set the threshold for when emails are sent once your screens are offline under Notification Threshold, either getting notified as soon as a screen is offline, or only after it has been offline for about 5 minutes.
In cases where your screens are connected to choppy internet, where they might go offline and automatically reconnect once the connection is back, you might want to set the offline warning duration to be a longer length.
However, if the setup of your screens is built with a strong, secure, and wired network, you would maybe want to receive a notification as soon as possible, as the issue may be more than network related.
You can also group the email notifications to include more than a single screen by enabling the Notification Grouping option, which can be found under My Accounts in your Studio account.
Please note: Once a screen is offline, it will take up to 3 minutes minimum for the email notification to inform you a screen is offline, even if the threshold option has been set to 'no delay'.
What to expect when your screen goes offline
When a screen you have set up with Screen Notifications goes offline, the email you receive will contain the time of the offline detection, along with the name of the organization, space, and screen. Also included are some troubleshooting steps that could help resolve your screen's offline issue.
However, if the issue is not network related, and you cannot get your screens online and up and running again, you can use the provided link to ScreenCloud support to immediately get help for your issue.
Please note that an email will also be sent to you once the screen is online again.
How to remove your email from receiving Screen Notifications
There are two ways to stop screen notifications from being sent to your email.
You can either:
a) Click the Screens Notification bell icon to toggle the personal notification option off for your email, or
b) Click the unsubscribe link in the notification email which is sent to you
