Updated over a month ago

Introduction

Slack can be used as more than a messaging or engagement tool between you and your teams. With ScreenCloud for digital signage, you can connect a free Slack account with your displays to show messages in real-time on-screen. You can use this feature as a way to send messages quickly using your iOS or Android smartphone to display updates on screen for teams across any office or organization. This is useful if you need to show critical or immediate notices across your screens.

1. Download Slack to your mobile device

To get started, visit the app store for iOS device or Google Play on your Android device to download Slack.

2. Create a free Slack account

Please visit Slack and sign up for a free account. If you have a Slack account, you can continue on step 3 of this article.

3. Create a channel in Slack for your messages

Once you've signed up for Slack, you can start by creating a channel for your messages that you can access from your smartphone app. You can learn how to create a channel in Slack by clicking here.

For example, if you're using the Slack app to send office notifications or emergency messages on the screen then create a channel named "office-notifications" or "emergency-messages". This will help you find it easily when connecting Slack together with your ScreenCloud account.

4. Connect your Slack channel with ScreenCloud

4.1. Please visit ScreenCloud's Slack app guide for quick step-by-step instructions on how to connect your Slack account. This walks you through how to start using the app on your screens.

5. Send a message to your screens from your mobile device

5.1. Once connected, visit the Slack app on your mobile device or smartphone.

5.2. Find the channel you've connected with ScreenCloud, for example, "office-notifications" as displayed below.

5.3. Type and send any message to the channel that you'd like to display across your screens.

Please note, that messages will only update while your device running the ScreenCloud app is connected to the internet or has a stable connection. If you're seeing any outdated or old messages showing on the screen, please double-check your internet connection and contact [email protected].
