How To Start Using ScreenCloud Without a Physical Screen or TV

Learn how to test and setup ScreenCloud on your desktop or phone before buying the product or hardware.

You don't need a TV or dedicated display to start using ScreenCloud. Whether you're trialling the platform, testing content, or exploring features before committing to a full hardware setup, the options below let you get up and running right away.

Virtual screen

Trial accounts have access to a Virtual Screen, a simulated display built into ScreenCloud Studio that requires no device, download, or physical hardware. It lets you explore the platform and test content in a mock environment before your physical screens are ready.

How virtual screens work

  • Available on trial accounts only. Not accessible on active paid subscriptions.

  • Pairing a virtual screen automatically assigns one of the 3 free trial licenses, so as to mimic the behavour of a real screen and player pairing.

To add a virtual screen

  1. In your ScreenCloud account, go to Screens.

  2. Click New Screen.

  3. Select Virtual Screen.

  4. Follow the on-screen steps to complete setup.


Web browser player

Visit web.screencloud.com in Google Chrome to get a pairing code directly in your browser. Go to Screens in your account, click New Screen, and enter the code to pair your browser as a screen. You can learn more about using this player version here.


Windows or macOS player

The ScreenCloud desktop player turns any Windows or macOS computer into a digital signage display. It’s the most reliable way to test ScreenCloud on hardware you already have.

  1. Download the ScreenCloud player for Windows or macOS.

  2. Open the player - it will display a pairing code.

  3. In your ScreenCloud account, go to Screens, click New Screen, and enter the pairing code.


iOS or Android app

Use your smartphone or tablet as a display by downloading the ScreenCloud Player app.

Once open, the app shows a pairing code. Go to Screens in your account, click New Screen, and enter the code to pair your device.


Managing ScreenCloud Studio from mobile

You can access ScreenCloud Studio from your smartphone or tablet browser to manage content, update playlists, and configure screens on the go. For the best experience, use Google Chrome or Firefox.
