Fire OS Hardware

This article covers hardware requirements for Fire OS, supported devices, and troubleshooting steps for ScreenCloud issues.

Updated this week

Amazon Fire TV offers great value on any budget and quick and easy setup with their consumer-friendly devices - such as its Fire TV Stick devices, as well as tablets and TVs running their Fire OS operating system. Please note, that you do not need Amazon Prime to use ScreenCloud, but you do need an Amazon account. If you do not have one, you can register by visiting this page.

If you're looking for an Amazon Fire TV Stick to run ScreenCloud, we strongly recommend the Amazon Signage Stick instead (available in your regional Amazon store). It’s purpose-built for digital signage and helps avoid common issues like the Fire OS home screen appearing.

Minimum requirements

Amazon’s Fire TV streaming media devices, Fire tablets, and Fire TV smart TVs / smart TVs with Fire TV built-in run on Amazon's Fire OS operating system, which is based on Android. But as Amazon has a very specific list of devices that we have thoroughly tested, we have not set a list of minimum requirements, instead listing exactly which devices we do and do not recommend or support (see below).

Please also take note that Amazon devices running Fire OS 8 will require additional setup steps compared to earlier versions. You can see the guide How To Set Up the ScreenCloud Fire OS Player on Fire OS 8 for Fire TV Sticks for assistance with these devices.
